How do I use the Point of Sale (PoS) in Metro Accounting System?

​The Point of Sale (PoS) Dashboard in Metro Accounting System is the control center for launching and managing your sales sessions. Here's how to use it effectively:

1) Using the PoS Interface. Start a new PoS session - Click Here

Go to Point of Sale(PoS) > Dashboard.

Click New Session or Resume.

The Point of Sale (PoS) module in Metro Accounting System, and it's part of a retail or service-based business interface (e.g., Metro Group). Below is a detailed explanation of each part of the screen:


Top Bar


  • Logo (METRO): Indicates the brand or company using the PoS system.

  • Orders (1): Shows there is currently 1 order in progress or pending.

  • Search Products...: A search bar for finding products quickly by typing product names or codes.

  • Cash Drawer Button: Opens the cash drawer functions like opening the drawer, checking balances, etc.

  • User Info (shreyansh shah): The logged-in user or cashier name.

  • Metro Group: The name of the company or business unit.

  • Icons (Monitor, Network, Close):

    • Monitor icon may relate to screen settings or layout.

    • Wi-Fi icon indicates internet connectivity.

    • Close button logs out or closes the PoS session.

Main Area - Order Section (Left Side)

  • "This order is empty": Indicates that no items have been added to the cart yet.

  • This is where selected items will appear once clicked.


Product Selection Area (Right Side)

Top Tabs (Categories)

Categories help filter products:

  • Hardware, Software, Accessories, Extra, Massage

  • These are clickable tabs to show products under each category.


Product Listings

Each box represents a product:

  • Product name (e.g., Red Pen, Motor oil, Desk Organizer (62 Inch))

  • Product price (e.g., S$ 10.20/unit, S$ 35.10/unit)

  • Some have images, while others just have placeholder icons.

Numeric Keypad (Bottom Left)

Used for manual input of quantities, discounts, or custom pricing.


  • Note: Allows the cashier or sales staff to add a custom note to the order. Special customer instructions (e.g., “No ice”, “Gift wrap this item”).
  • Guests: Specifies how many people are being served with the order.
  • Qty: Input quantity for selected product.

  • Disc: Apply a discount to a selected item.

  • Price: Modify the price of the item (if allowed).

  • Customer: Attach a customer to the order (useful for loyalty, tracking).

  • Payment Button (Arrow icon): Proceed to the payment screen.

3) Once you're inside the PoS session, you'll see a screen where you can add products to the cart.


 4) You can add your Products in various ways:

       Scan the Product barcode where it automatically adds it into the cart.

       Search the Product by its Name, barcode etc. Click on the Product that you wish to add into the cart.

5) Filter your Product by its category and add the required product into the cart.

6) Click on the "Payment" button to process the sale and complete the payment process.


Main Payment Area (Center):

  • Payment (Top Center): This clearly labels the current screen as the payment processing interface.
  • Remaining S$ 0.00: This displays the amount still due for the current order. In this case, the remaining balance is zero, indicating the order is fully paid or overpaid. The "S$" likely denotes Singapore Dollars as the currency.
  • Total Due S$ 40.20: This shows the original total amount of the order before any payments were applied.
  • Change S$ 0.00: This indicates the amount of change to be given back to the customer. Since the remaining due is zero, the change is also zero.

Action Buttons (Right):

  • Show QR Code: This button would likely display a QR code that the customer can scan with their mobile device to make a payment (e.g., for Paynow or other mobile payment methods).
  • Validate: This is the crucial button to finalize the sale and process the payment. Clicking this would complete the transaction and likely trigger actions like printing the receipt and updating inventory.

 7) After completing the transaction, you can close the current PoS session. This finalizes the sales data for that session.

Action Buttons (Right):

  • New Order: This green button initiates a new sales order, taking the user back to the product selection screen.
  • Print Receipt: Clicking this button would send the receipt to the configured receipt printer.
  • Send By Whatsapp: This option suggests integration with WhatsApp, allowing the receipt to be sent to the customer's phone number if configured.
  • Print Invoice: This would generate and print a formal invoice, which might contain more detailed information than a standard receipt.
  • Email Input Field:This allows the user to enter or confirm the customer's email address to send a digital receipt or invoice. Now, Click on the Send, this would send the receipt or invoice to the email address entered.
